Karen Taylor - Artist Statement / Biography
'Working in acrylics has granted me the freedom to express these organic, sinuous forms whilst also allowing me to build up depth using translucent layers reflecting many years working with pastels.'
In 2004, Karen Taylor escaped the cold, rainy weather of Scotland, to settle in Toronto. Taylor is heavily influenced by the English Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau, especially Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whose works are an integral part of her native Glasgow.
Since having moved to Canada, Taylor has become a board member of the Artists’ Network and also regularly contributes to shows including the Octopus Project, Square Foot, Riverdale Art Walk and Little Art Show.
