Automatic painting
Automatic painting is a style of painting in which paint is applied directly to the canvas without any planning or preconceived ideas. Examples of this are: gestural brushstrokes, a controlled drip technique which involved squeezing paint from the tube directly onto the canvas, Palette knife paintings which involved spreading the paint with a palette knife into choppy patterns.
