Media Programming
The AGH Media department works independently or in conjunction with our Education department. AGHfilm presents the latest and best in Canadian and international film. AGHperformance presents contemporary music, dance, literature, performance art, film and new media. Also represented is AGHbooks and our annual AGH International Film and Video Festival.
What do Media Volunteers do?
Under the supervision of the AGH Media Programmer, volunteers:
Publicize media programmes by assisting with mailings and flyer distribution
Support ticket sales on-site and represent the Gallery during film screenings or media events
Help set-up and tear-down event spaces
Assist in any way they can to help media events run smoothly
What level of commitment is expected?
Media Volunteers are expected to commit to a least one out of three sessions of availability which run from:
January to May
June to August
September to December
The average time commitment expected from a volunteer would be approximately 4 hours for an evening media event and 2-3 hours in the daytime for administrative tasks.
AGHfilm programme: Interested volunteers should be available to assist at each film screening at Empire Jackson Square 6 Cinemas. Screenings take place every two weeks on Wednesday evenings (during a season) for a total of 7-8 screenings.
AGHperformance, AGHbooks and other media event programmes: Interested volunteers should be able to work within an evolving schedule (lead-in time is usually at least one month).
What skills are required for this position?
Media Volunteers should be interested in today's independent film, music and/or literary culture, as well as dependable, punctual, friendly and approachable. Computer skills would be an asset.
