Art @ Lunch

On the first Wednesday of each month, this intimate tour series focuses on select exhibitions and features AGH Docents sharing their expertise and research. Registration is not required.

    Sunday Tour Day

    Tour Day is an excellent opportunity to enhance your Gallery visit. Learn more about the fascinating works of art on display from our skilled Docents. Tours last approximately 40 minutes.

    Day & Time:
    Sundays at 2:00 pm
    Please arrive five minutes early to purchase admission and/or receive your entry sticker from the AGH Front Desk.

    Family Visits
    Pick up a Discovery Kit and a Family Activity Book at the front desk (free with admission). Discovery Kits contain a number of objects that children can touch during their Gallery visit, as well as some 'thinking questions' for you to discuss together. Activity Books encourage thinking, drawing and imagining as children complete the pages of their own booklets.

    Touch Tours at the
    Art Gallery of Hamilton


    The Art Gallery of Hamilton is pleased to invite members of the public to join us on one of five Thursday afternoons to experience a Tactile Tour in the Gallery. These tours are primarily designed to enhance the art-experience for visitors with vision loss, but can also provide a unique sensory experience for all. Tours will feature up to four works of art in the exhibition, Europe’s Exoticized East, including: Sophie Anderson’s Toklihili: The Young Indian Princess, Edwin Lord Weeks’ The Last Voyage—Souvenir of the Ganges, Antoine-Louis Barye’s Lion Crushing a Serpent, Nicola Forcella’s Portrait of an Arab, as well as Glyn Philpot’s Oedipus Replying to the Sphinx 1930-31.

    Dates & Time:
    Thursdays - August 5, 12, 19, 26 and September 2 @ 3:00 pm.
    Tours will last one hour, and will include up to four works of art – one sculpture and up to three paintings.

    Price: included with Gallery admission

    On the third Wednesday of the month, join AGH Librarian and Docent Helen Hadden for a tour of selected exhibitions, followed by tea and discussion in the Café at AGH.

    Please note: In the event that Tea & Tours focuses on Gallery Level ONE exhibitions, ticketed admission will apply to Non-Members.

    Please note there will be no Tea & Tour in July and August.

    Exhibition Audio Guides

    While visiting the Gallery on your own, you can still enjoy a guided tour thanks to our new Audio Guides! Developed for selected exhibitions, the Audio Tours will provide an intimate experience as you learn more about the artists and works on display. Available for various exhibitions, Audio Guides are included in Gallery admission or are free for AGH Members. You will be asked to leave a piece of identification at the Front Desk when you sign out your Audio Guide.

    The AGH offers reduced rates to groups of 10 people or more, as well as providing the option for a captivating docent-led tour. We also give the option to enjoy a delicious meal from our Café or catering from Hospitality Services (pre-arranged).

    Corporate Workshops

    Need to Boost Creative Thinking? Encourage Team Building?

    Let us show you how art can encourage innovative thinking for progressive leadership and team building. AGH Corporate Workshops will engage employee groups in creative thinking with unique activities. Art on view at the AGH is utilized to spark discussion about various strategies for professional success. Perception and interpretation of art and images are explored and linked to innovative workplace thinking.

    Morning or afternoon sessions can be booked from Tuesday to Friday. The programme can be complemented by lunch, catered by our Hospitality Services.

    Destination AGH

    Calling all Day Care Centres, Girl Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Scouts! Destination AGH offers groups of 15 to 60 children the chance to see fabulous international artwork and create masterpieces of their own.

    This interactive 90 minute programme is available evenings throughout the year, 6:30 to 8:00 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

    Destination AGH fees: $7.00 per child for groups of 16-30.
