Enjoy this conversation between AGH Curator of Contemporary Art Melissa Bennett and current AGH exhibition artist Nora Hutchinson, reflecting on Hutchinson’s retrospective exhibition, Rebel Opera.
Recorded remotely over Zoom, this conversation serves as a complement to our final weeks hosting the video exhibition online. Don’t miss the final weeks to view the exhibition online, available on Vimeo until February 3.
Nora Hutchinson occupies a key position in the evolution of video art and performance installation, having begun her practice when these artistic genres were in their infancy. This retrospective exhibition offers a selection of video works made over four decades. Rooted in feminism, her evocative moving-image works developed from her foundation in performance art and musical composition.
Please note that at at the time of this publication, the AGH is temporarily closed. We continue to follow the advice and directives of the local public health officials, the provincial government, and our Board of Directors, so stay tuned to our Plan Your Visit and COVID-19 Guidelines page for updates. We hope our visitors remain connected to our programs and exhibitions through AGH at Home and Shop at AGH Online.
