Carol Westcott is a Toronto-based artist specializing in acrylic and mixed media. Westcott received her education at the Haliburton School of the Arts and OCAD University.
A contemporary landscape painter, Westcott depicts natural and built environments. Her landscape images are formed from the memories, fragments of experience and influence of her early life in rural Ontario. Westcott’s current works are part of a developing collection that gives fresh expression to the Ontario landscape by highlighting settings that might easily be overlooked.
In speaking of her own work, Westcott states:
“My work is inspired by the natural environment. Growing up in rural Ontario gave me an early appreciation for the land and its vagaries so, from a very young age, I was inspired by the landscape that I now present in my images.”
Westcott has exhibited her work in numerous solo shows and has participated in group exhibitions across Canada. Her work is represented in galleries, corporate, public and private collections and is collected internationally. Several of her paintings have been purchased by the Government of Ontario Art Collection.
