Dylan Swan is a contemporary artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. He received his diploma in Experimental Drawing and Painting from OCAD U. Connection, community and belonging are the overarching themes of Swan’s work. He states:
“The Hamilton area and community is both my subject and an inspiration that drives me. My work is a reflection of the life, energy and connections that bind us all, with a vibrant, expressive style structured over an impressionistic illustrative framework.”
Swan is drawn to painting urban landscapes. This initially derives out of a personal connection, but then as his work progresses, he becomes engaged on a more exoteric level leading to a deeper feeling of belonging. Exploration of the connection between our structures and the natural environment as well as the eddies and currents of fluid motion that bind us.
Swan’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, Italy, Germany and Australia.
