Jon Shaw documents squalid areas of the urban environments around where he has lived and worked. Using a combination of drawing and painting techniques, he captures these derelict spaces in an illustrative style of layered, vivid color. Shaw’s works excite the often-overlooked beauty and ongoing, intriguing metamorphosis of familiar urban locales.

His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions including Transfigurement at the Niagara Artists Centre, St. Catherines, ON (2019) and Street Signs & Alleyways at The Clutch in Vancouver, BC (2014).
