This documentary sheds light on the personal history and trajectory of Canadian music icon Robbie Robertson as he made musical history through his contributions to what we now know as Americana. Born in Toronto, Robertson made music on the nearby Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve. Once Were Brothers documents Robertson’s career through archival footage, reflective interviews given by Robertson, and contributions from his peers, including Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, and Martin Scorcese.
