Inspired by the diversity of painting styles and subjects in the AGH’s permanent collection of Canadian art, this class will show you how to identify what makes a successful painting!
Through fun, weekly exercises, join Diana Gordon as you experiment with the basics of line direction, tonal contrast, and colour harmony, inspired by movements from Realism (Alex Colville, Christopher and Mary Pratt) and Post-Impressionism (Lawren Harris, Emily Carr) to the Abstract Expressionism of the Painters Eleven. Choose which visual elements appeal to you the most and apply them to your own compositions. Through a relaxed, informal approach, this adult class is for beginners and experienced painters alike! All materials provided.
