In the 1980s, the Hamilton Artists Inc. began the Climbing the Cold White Peaks project, a book and exhibition that surveyed Hamilton’s art history from 1910-1950. Building Cultural Legacies picks up where they left off, exploring new avenues for storytelling and engagement.
Early Inc. members Bryce Kanbara and Brian Johnston join current Executive Director Julie Dring in conversation about their experiences within artist-run centres, and the value of documenting the history of Hamilton’s art and artists. Following this, project coordinators Christopher McLeod and Alexis Moline will demonstrate how to submit to Building Cultural Legacies and answer questions about the process.
