Nolan Bryant is a journalist, independent curator, and collector of haute couture. After two years of research and planning, and countless hours of sleuthing through wardrobes and archival material, Milli: A Celebration of Style, was born. The exhibition puts into focus the work and legacy of Hamilton’s pre-eminent fashion enterprise and places sumptuous ensembles from the past five decades in-conversation with works from the AGH permanent collection. In this illustrated talk, Bryant will give a brief history of fashion curation and address foundational questions that resulted in this exhibition: “Why tell this story?”, “Why now?”, and “Why at the AGH?”.
