Join staff and volunteers from Royal Botanical Gardens and the Hamilton Naturalist’s Club as they explore the amazing nature of Cootes Paradise and our city.
In 1826, its rich biodiversity resulted in Cootes Paradise being described as, “….a place above all others yet known in Canada…” In 1974, Cootes Paradise was declared dead, its wetlands degraded by 150 years of human abuse. Royal Botanical Gardens is working to restore balance to this significant Great Lakes coastal wetland; find out how this work is done with the help of Jennifer Bowman, RBG’s Aquatic Ecologist.
