Join us for an exciting and interactive afternoon of movement, spoken word, and creative exploration in partnership with Hamilton You Poets (HYP). This unique workshop is open to writers, performers, and artists of all levels, offering a space to refine your craft, share your voice, and prepare for next month’s Open Mic & Poetry Slam.
Performance Grounding – Learn techniques to strengthen your stage presence and feel confident on stage.
Writing from the Senses – Unlock deeper storytelling and explore creativity through sensory experiences.
Breath-work for Performance – Reset your nerves, enhance focus, and step into your authentic confidence.

Meet the Facilitators
Kay’la Fraser (She/Her)A creative, queer and quirky plant loving INFJ Virgo witch with a penchant for astrophysics, homemade soup and fully belly laughs. Her journey began in Fall 2016, after working nearly a decade in the Arts. With over 400 hours of movement-based teacher training, Kay’la marries her passion for wellness, movement and play with inquiry and creativity, offering integrative classes, programs, healing tools and peer-led grief support through a holistic, trauma informed lens. Inspired by yoga, Pilates, intuitive movement and ecstatic dance, her classes are an invitation to express your joy, explore your growth edge and connect with your embodied Self- on and off the mat.
Nea Reid (She/Her) Nea Reid is a collaborative stargazer, an impractical idealist, and multidisciplinary artist with a poetic nature. Her incarnations include sculptor, artistic director, producer, story teller, and poet. Reid started her career creating iconic creatures for YTV’s, “Keep It Weird”, and later ventured into producing, contributing to Charles Officers award-winning debut film, “When Morning Comes.” Her work later expanded on a global scale, encompassing film projects throughout the South Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. In collaboration with the University of the South Pacific, Reid spearheaded a six-month theatre for development initiative, sparking her passion for language and live performance. Reid has received several prestigious awards, such as the CCTA Galaxy Award, MMVA, World Shorts, CBC Reel Black Award, and Hamilton Arts Awards for Community Arts and Education.
Notably, she was short listed for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the City of Hamilton in 2022. Reid has touched the lives of over 24,000 aspiring writers through her work with Hamilton You Poets, where she continues to provide educational programs, platforms, and mentorship opportunities to the next generation of Hamilton writers.
