Workshop: Documenting Your Art — A DIY Guide to Preserving Your Creative Legacy

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Thursday, March 5, 2026

RSVP Required - Free Admission

Location: Fisher Gallery, Art Gallery of Hamilton

Next to the original physical work itself, good documentation is one of the best long-term investments you can make in your art practice. It forms the backbone of your art archive and shapes how your creative journey is perceived for years to come.

Join AGH Collections Registrar, Andrea Howard, for this hands-on workshop. Andrea will walk participants through the process of documenting their individual 2D artworks using accessible D.I.Y. tools and techniques.

The session will cover practical tips on:

  • File management and organization
  • Lighting setups for capturing accurate color and texture
  • Simple post-production
  • Best practices for documenting work for grants, open calls, exhibitions, and personal archives

Whether you’re preparing for submissions, building your portfolio, or simply tracking your creative legacy, this workshop will help you create professional, lasting documentation of your art.

Andrea Howard is a member of the Collections and Exhibitions team at the Art Gallery of Hamilton and currently works as the Collections Registrar. She helps to care for and foster access to the 11,200+ objects in the Gallery’s permanent collection. Andrea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Queen’s University, and a Master’s of Information in Archives and Records Management from the University of Toronto.
