From Earth to Sky is a powerful documentary that spotlights the groundbreaking work of influential Indigenous architects, including renowned Anishinaabe architect Douglas Cardinal. With visionary approaches rooted in culture, community, and sustainability, these architects are reimagining the built environment and transforming cities and communities across Turtle Island. 

Following the screening, join us for a panel discussion and Q&A with director Ron Chapman and architect Brian Porter, offering deeper insight into the film and the future of Indigenous architecture. 

Panelists will include: Architect, Jennifer Kinnunen of Smoke Architecture Inc. (Moderator), Six Nations architect, Brian Porter of Two Row Architect and From Earth to Sky Film director Ron Chapman of Chapman Productions.

FILM SCHEDULE
6:30 PM – Film screening: From Earth To Sky (Runtime 1 hour 23 minutes)
7:50 PM – Intermission
8:00 PM – Panel discussion and Q&A
9:00 PM – Closing remarks

Hamilton/Burlington Society of Architects (HBSA), established in 1913, is comprised of members and affiliates from the local architecture community. HBSA provides accessible professional development, education, community and social activities for its members. The HBSA is actively involved in establishing programs designed to enhance the general public’s understanding of architecture and the profession of architecture. By organizing events that deal with local issues, the HBSA can present factual demonstrations illustrating how the profession of architecture can contribute to the local community.

Young Architects of Hamilton (YAH) is a group of young architects, architectural technologists and technicians, interior designers, and other design professionals who live and/or work in the Hamilton area. YAH’s focus is to represent and promote the young and aspiring members of the architectural community in Hamilton. By facilitating conversations about how architecture and its many related fields can influence a community. YAH aims to help build up Hamilton’s bright future.
