Join collector Glen Faulman and Guest Curator Tor Lukasik-Foss for an engaging conversation exploring the stories behind the Made in Hamilton exhibition. Learn how a personal passion for collecting evolved into a remarkable archive of Hamilton’s industrial history, and discover how everyday objects, advertisements, and ephemera reveal the city’s enduring culture of making. The talk includes insights into the exhibition’s development, collecting practices, and the surprising history behind some of the objects on display.

Glen Faulman: (a.k.a. The Hamilton Kid) is an 8th-generation Hamiltonian, a third-generation steelworker, a punk musician, and former owner of This Ain’t Hollywood on James Street North. His mother’s family first came to the area in the 1780s, settling on a farm in the area of Mohawk and Upper Horning. It was Glen’s parents who instilled within him the importance of supporting Canadian made, Hamilton-made, and union made objects and ephemera from this city’s manufacturing past.  goods, and these principles have directly inspired his three plus decades of collecting.

Tor Lukasik-Foss is a Hamilton artist whose creative practice encompasses music, performance, story-telling and visual art. He contributes to several collectives including TH&B (a contemporary art collective dedicated to site responsive sculptures and social actions) Hamilton Seven (a storytelling collective of artists who hail from different creative practice), and Tuesday Choir (a weekly singing group focused on the social benefits of communal singing).  Recent projects include the ‘Party as Form’ residency hosted at Praksis Art Centre (Oslo, Norway 2024), a month-long community engagement residency at the Bunnell Arts Centre (Homer, Alaska, 2023), and touring performance work entitled “New Wave Your Behaviour” (Winnipeg, Edmonton, Victoria, Hamilton, 2023-5).  He will be launching a new performance work this summer at the Hamilton Fringe.
