Who gets to call a city home and what happens when housing becomes an investment instead of a human right? 

Presented by the Art Gallery of Hamilton in partnership with the Hamilton Burlington Society of Architects (HBSA) and Young Architects of Hamilton (YAH), this special screening of director Fredrik Gertten’s acclaimed documentary PUSH looks at the forces making cities increasingly unaffordable to the people who live in them. Following Leilani Farha, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, the film travels across cities and continents to investigate the financialization of housing and the growing divide between housing as a home and housing as a commodity. 

More than a night at the movies, the evening invites audiences to consider these questions through the lens of our own communities, with a panel discussion bringing the conversation closer to home.
