Gallery Volunteering ~ It's a Work of Heart!

For over 50 years, a dynamic and hard-working Volunteer Committee has supported the AGH by promoting membership and fundraising by creating a welcoming atmosphere. Working in collaboration with Gallery staff, these dedicated men and women exemplify the spirit of the AGH and positively represent the Gallery to visitors.
Volunteers can help in one or more different areas of the Gallery with schedules that suit their busy lives. Please read below for more information about what types of volunteer work are available.

Education Volunteers (Docent Programme)
The AGH will be accepting applications to join the volunteer Docent programme until January 31, 2008. Docents begin this programme with an eight-session training course, scheduled to begin in March 2008, and held on Mondays from 4:00 to 6:00. After training is complete, new docents will become actively involved in delivering exhibition tours to school groups ranging from grade one to the post-graduate level, and to various adult groups from the public. Docents also engage in regular meetings where exhibition information is provided, research on artists and their work is initiated, and various guest speakers engage the group in learning about art.
