Join acclaimed landscape artist James Gummerson for an inspiring plein air painting workshop set amidst the scenic beauty of Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum in historic Ancaster, Ontario. This immersive outdoor experience invites artists of all skill levels to capture the natural light, atmosphere, and charm of this picturesque setting.
Participants will explore techniques in composition, colour mixing, and brushwork, tailored to painting en plein air. This hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to deepen your connection with the landscape and refine your artistic voice in a supportive, creative environment.
Registration includes admission to the Art Gallery of Hamilton. After the workshop, visit the AGH to experience the works of Helen McNicoll in person!

About James Gummerson:
Hamilton-based painter James Gummerson, after attending Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology, embarked on a remarkable artistic journey. After working as an Illustrator, he shifted his focus towards creating captivating paintings that explore the harmonious coexistence of nature and the urban landscape. His works have graced galleries and shows across Canada, earning him recognition and numerous awards. In 2020, James was invited to showcase his talent on the CBC TV show ‘Landscape artist of the year Canada,’ where he impressed as the wild card winner of episode one and emerged as a runner-up in the finals. His artistry has also been featured in prestigious publications, further cementing his reputation as a distinguished artist. James draws inspiration from the serene charm of quiet side streets adorned with majestic old trees, vibrant community gardens bursting with life, and the enigmatic allure of back alleys. His paintings beautifully capture the interplay of dramatic light and captivating skies against the backdrop of daily urban life. With his unique perspective and artistic prowess, James Gummerson continues to captivate audiences with his evocative and thought-provoking artwork.

Cancellation Policy:
The AGH reserves the right to cancel or combine classes to meet minimum enrolment numbers. If minimum enrolment is not met, a full refund will be provided.
Transfer or full refund requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the program’s start date, subject to a $25 + HST administrative fee. Refund requests made within 2 weeks of the start date will receive a 50% refund of the program fees, minus the $25 + HST administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after the 2-week notice period.
