POSITION: Contract Artist-Instructors
SUPERVISOR: Senior Manager, Education

The Education department at the Art Gallery of Hamilton works with artist-educators in the Hamilton area for contract employment within our studio programs. Educational programming is offered for schools, camps, children’s classes, adult studio programs and specialized activities.

We invite artist-educators in the community to submit a statement of interest in order to be considered for an occasional contract position teaching studio-based classes. This position does not guarantee regular employment or a minimum number of hours - contract staff are called as needed.

Artist-instructors may be invited to work in various programs based on experience and skills:

* Children and family programs, after school and weekends

* Camp instructors - March Break, PD Days and Summer

* Studio programs for special interest groups

* School programs

* Adult studio classes

Applicants are required to be professional practicing artists with university-level education in studio art and a minimum of two to five years studio teaching experience. Please include:

* a current C.V. including exhibition history, education and teaching experience;

* a link to your website or a portfolio of 10 to 15 images of recent work with a corresponding list of works;

* a portfolio of student work/projects done under your instruction with corresponding descriptions of activities and educational settings;

* a letter of intent outlining your qualifications and areas of interest.

Applications are acceptable by mail or email, with images submitted digitally.

Interviews will be arranged on an as-needed basis. These applications will be kept on file, and reviewed as needed. Before teaching classes at AGH, all Artist-instructors must provide a current police check including vulnerable sector screening that has been completed in the past 6 months and a minimum of three references.
