Inspired by the Black and White Photography of Vivian Maier: Street Photography, we will explore the importance of Value (relative lights to darks) in creating compelling compositions, moods, and realistic forms. Preliminary exercises will include collage, pen and ink, paint mixing and acrylic glazing. Students will then make a monochrome painting inspired by the expressive streetscapes and portraits of Vivian Maier. Students are encouraged to bring in their own photos for reference. For adults of all levels. The class price includes a $40 material fee.
